About
MY BACKGROUND
Elaine Stiefel is an experienced educational leader with a proven track record of driving instructional innovation, curriculum adoption, and technology integration. From 2018 to 2026, she served as the Director of Instructional Technology at West Ottawa Public Schools (WOPS) in Holland, Michigan. During her tenure, Elaine founded the WO Tech Team to build sustainable tech support across the district, facilitated the K-12 implementation of Computer Science Standards, and led the launch of the West Ottawa Virtual Academy—which grew to become the #1 virtual learning program in Michigan. In Summer 2025, she also contributed to the Policy subcommittee for Michigan’s state AI Cohort.
Elaine’s background combines deep administrative leadership with rich classroom experience. She taught in a project-based learning environment for six years and worked as an educational technology consultant prior to her Director of Instructional Technology role in West Ottawa Public Schools.
Her academic credentials reflect a deep commitment to educational excellence. Elaine earned her Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University (2025), along with her MDE Central Office endorsement. She holds a Master’s degree in Education (Instruction and Curriculum) from Grand Valley State University (2016) and a School Administrator certificate from MASSP (2022).
Elaine specializes in AI integration, student-centered and inquiry-based learning, designing innovative environments that support diverse student populations, and inclusive learning environments.
